Fact or Fiction: How dress is depicted in novels and film

Venue:
London College of Fashion
John Princes Street
London
W1M 0BJ

Organisation: COSTUME SOCIETY

The Costume Society in association with The London College of Fashion has organised a study day exploring how fashion has been depicted in fiction.

The day will concentrate on various periods from the 19th century onwards and leap into the future.

It will be a chance to discover how writers have interpreted dress and clothed their characters and whether this gives us an accurate picture of dress for that time.

The programme is to be confirmed;

watch out for speakers details on the website.

There will be five speakers in total including Penny Ruddock, specialist on dress in Jane Austen’s novels and Claire Nicholson who is researching dress in Virginia Woolf’s novels.

Refreshments: Please note that as there are no catering facilities,coffee, lunch and tea will not be provided.
There is a room available where attendees may eat packed lunches and there are
