NEWSFLASH! Update on awards and bursaries
Introducing one more student award coordinator!
Hello, my name is Ben Whyman and I am the manager of the Centre for Fashion Curation, a research centre based at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London.
Alongside Louise Chapman, Joanna Jarvis and Janet Wood, I am really pleased and excited to be coordinating and overseeing two of the Costume Society student awards – the Museum Placement Award, and the Yarwood Award.
Both awards are great opportunities for students from across a number of disciplines. The Museum Placement Award offers HE students (from as early as year two of a BA degree) amazing hands-on experience in museums, working alongside skilled and expert curators in their field. The Yarwood Award is a fantastic opportunity for an MA student at an HE institution to support the writing of an MA thesis (travel and subsistence, archive reproduction fees, access to materials, etc.). As a part-time PhD student at UAL, with experience of working with material culture in museums, I am keen for students to have the opportunity to grow and learn through working with clothing in their studies. These awards can offer you a great experience for your work. I look forward to receiving your application!
NEWS FLASH! 23 January 2018 The Costume Society is excited to announce that the amounts awarded for the Museum Placement Award and the Yarwood Award has doubled for 2018! This means, for this year we have two awards of £1000 to present for the Museum Placement Award, and two awards of £500 for the Yarwood Award.
