New Jubilee Award fund for 2015
Next year is going to be a big one. It will be the Costume Society's golden jubilee. Our FIFTIETH birthday. As we approach this milestone, we'll be thinking about why we're here and how we can adapt to the changes around us. The society was formed in 1965 to promote the study of the history of fashion and dress through the ages, and to promote its preservation. Earlier this year, we asked for your ideas about how we can do this better. And now we’re acting on some of your suggestions.
Our first new big initiative is the Jubilee Award, which will launch in early 2015. For one year only, we will be joining our research, museum placement and design awards together in a single fund. We will be fundraising against the Jubilee Award fund to grow the pot. Applicants will be able to apply for up to £2000 - a much bigger amount than we could make available in previous years. We hope the Jubilee Award will help students, researchers and early career professionals to secure funding for meaningful work that will enhance our field. For more information about how to apply, check the awards section of our website which we’ll be updating soon. Also, stay tuned for more improvements. We’re developing lots of exciting new ideas.
We can’t grow the Jubilee Award fund without donations. The Costume Society is a registered charity and relies on subscription fees and donations to run its programmes.
