We are looking for a New Chair…Could it be you?

Sylvia  Ayton MBE will have finished the five year term as Chairman of The Costume Society at the AGM in 2014. Expressions of interest are invited for the position .

The Society  was founded in 1965 and consequently celebrates its Golden  Jubilee in 2015. The incoming Chairman will have a clear vision of the direction the Society will take over the medium to long term to promote its  educational  and charitable objectives of the study and preservation of examples of historic and contemporary dress . He or she will need to communicate this vision to the Executive Committee and the members of the Society and provide clear leadership based on the respect and support of trustees, officers and members.  Issues which are likely to require the attention of the chairman include an increase both  in  numbers of members and their retention ; the expansion of the membership base; and the generation of  capital and income to support the Society’s objectives.

Expressions of interest should be sent to The Chairman for forwarding to a panel consisting of The Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Treasurer and Secretary who will make a recommendation to the Committee .
Interviews will  be held in the Spring of 2014 with an announcement of the successful candidate being made at the Society’s AGM at the Symposium in July 2014.
