Each year the Costume Society funds museum work experiences and research grants that students from around the UK can apply to. The Museum Work Experience Grant (MWEG) and Yarwood Grant (YG) are annual awards designed to support students in gaining key skills for their future careers in the museum world.
The Museum Work Experience Grant funds a student to work a minimum of two months on a dress-related project in a public museum's collection. Students work on projects that help museums document, improve storage, record, accession, mount garments for display or photography, or research the collection.
The Yarwood Grant is awarded to a student whose final MA project/dissertation investigates an aspect of the history of dress.
