Kate Lyons, Coleg Morgannwg, Cardiff: Morning dress c1837-41
Winner Emma Wilson from Coleg Morgannwg, Cardiff recreated a c1827-29 ivory silk brocade wedding dress having studied the original that is held in the Gloucester Museum collection. Her background research into the period along with the care, with which she sourced her materials before lovingly recreating the dress assisted her to create such a successful outcome. It was her first experience of hand stitching a complete garment and she felt she soon perfected the technique. It required a great attention to the complex decorative details that she handled beautifully.
