We are delighted to welcome our new Membership Secretary Lana Vargas and Programme Co-Ordinator Lydia Caston to the Committee.
"I am fiercely passionate about the Society’s mission to preserve and uplift dress history as both an academic discipline and highly skilled craft practice, and I am honoured to have been chosen for the role of Membership Secretary within the committee where I can assist in keeping and furthering the society’s aims and give back to the Society for the opportunities it gave me as a previous winner of the Patterns of Fashion competition," Lana said.
"I’m delighted to be joining the Costume Society as Programme Coordinator and look forward to contributing to a range of annual events. Working closely with the Society's committee, I am excited about bringing our members together for events on a broad range of dress and textile history themes and contemporary design. I am particularly keen to hear from our members to develop engaging and thought-provoking events and drawing on their experiences, research topics and expertise!" Lydia said.
Chair Vanessa Jones shares "I am delighted to welcome Lana to the Society as our new Membership Secretary. As a recipient of our Patterns of Fashion Award, Lana wanted to give back to the Society - already demonstrating her commitment to the Society and our mission. Her ambition, enthusiasm, and dedication to expanding the Society's reach make her an excellent fit for this role. We look forward to seeing our membership grow under Lana's guidance."
It is also with great pleasure that I welcome Lydia to the Society as our new Programme Coordinator. With many years of experience volunteering for other charities and organising events in the museum sector, Lydia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. I am confident her experience will ensure the Society's programme of events continues to go from strength to strength. I look forward to seeing how the Society can continue to engage new audiences and build on its success with Lydia leading the way."
