A celebration of mens costume design: The Costume Society’s Annual London Study Day

As part of our 2022 focus on Menswear, we are delighted to invite you to an exclusive opportunity to view the costumes shortlisted for this year's Patterns of Fashion and Patterns for Performance Awards. Join us for an afternoon celebrating aspects of cool in menswear with two key-note speakers Dr. Michael McMillan and Dr Llewella Chapman, and the presentation of the Janet Arnold Patterns of Fashion and Patterns for Performance Awards.

We are excited to announce the presentation of the Janet Arnold Patterns of Fashion and Patterns for Performance Awards judged by Alex Fordham freelance costume designer who has worked Mike O’Neill on such projects as Charles II and Love in a Cold Climate and Michele Clapton on Casanova, Game of Thrones, Ali and Nino, Queen of the Desert, and The Kings Man

Our two keynote speakers will be Dr. Michael McMillan Assoc. Lecturer, Cultural & Historical Studies, London College of Fashion, & Research Associate, Visual Identities in Art & Design Research Centre, University of Johannesburg, "Daddy Cool: Ageing Black male bodies and embodied stylin' " and Dr Llewella Chapman, Visiting Scholar University of East Anglia, The ‘James Bond Look’: Marketing menswear through 007 in the 1960s.
