COSTUME SOCIETY VISIT TO BEXHILL MUSEUM COSTUME COLLECTION

11am – 4pm approx.

Directions: Egerton Road, Bexhill TN39 3HL. Situated just north of the seafront, West Parade by the Clock Tower, signposted from West Parade and De La Warr Pavilion. Fifteen minute walk from Bexhill Railway Station.
Bexhill Museum’s sumptuous fashion and costume collections date from the 17th century to the modern day. These fantastic displays lead you through two hundred years of developing fashion and design, from tortuous corsets to stunning evening dresses. Aspects of each era’s social history are also brought to life with a selection of original everyday items alongside the costumes.
11am – Arrival and coffee.
11.30am Introduction to the Museum by Julian Porter, Curator followed by tour of the galleries led by Julian and Georgina Bradley, Costume Collections Manager.
12.30 Lunch (not included). Lunch may be taken at the nearby fabulous art deco de la Warr Pavilion.
2pm Georgina will take the group to the Education room where there will be further costume on display to view and some to handle. The group will then be taken into the Costume store to view other items.
